Smallmouth bass

Pound-for-pound, the strongest-fighting fish in fresh water

Anglers enjoy the skill (and luck) it takes to land the challenging and sometimes elusive smallmouth bass. There’s not a more exhilarating fight than hooking up with a smallie who leaps and jumps, then jets away to try and find cover. You land that fish and you feel like a real sportsman.

And thanks to a plentiful source of bait fish and a protective catch-and-release policy, our lake is stacked with trophy smallies.

Most fishermen refer to our smallmouth as “footballs” because they’re so thick and healthy. Come see for yourself the bulging girths on these trophy smallmouth bass.

Get the details on each fishing season to help you choose the time of year that best fits your preferred fishing experience.

We have been going to Pine Cliff Lodge for over 10 years and have enjoyed the clean cabins, best boats and personal service. This year we had a fantastic time and caught 67 trophy smallies and pike - including several 19 and 20 inch smallies that were fat as footballs. If you are a fly fisherman (or regular fisherman), this is the place!”
