How to Reach Pine Cliff Lodge
You can drive paved highway to Pine Cliff, located 150 miles north of International Falls, Minnesota. Other options are flying to International Falls and renting a car and driving 3 hours; flying to Minneapolis, Minnesota, and driving 8 hours; flying to Thunder Bay, Ontario and driving 4 1/2 hours; or flying to Winnepeg, Manitoba and driving 5 hours to Pine Cliff Lodge.

The Drive
The Drive into Canada and to Pine Cliff Lodge is easy. At the border, you will typically be asked these three questions. 1) What is your purpose in visiting Canada? You will tell them you are going hunting or fishing. 2) Are you bringing alcohol into Canada? You are allowed one case of beer or 40 ounces of liquor per person. 3) Are you transporting firearms into Canada? If you are, declare them and remember, handguns are not allowed. If you have a D.U.I., D.W.I., or felony, you may be denied entry into Canada. Bring a photo ID and birth certificate. Passports may be required by 2008.
Directions from International Falls, MN to the Lodge: After Customs and Immigrations at the border, take the Mowat Street to the next light "Business District" and then a right at the light onto 11 East. It is 19.4 miles to 502 North and then 94.7 miles to 594 East. A right onto 594 East will take you into Dryden and to 17 East in 5 miles. A right onto 17 East and in 17.4 miles you will take a left onto 72 North. In 0.4 miles take another left to stay on 72 North and look for Pine Cliff signs on the right in 15 miles. These signs are maintained by the Highway Department, and located on the shoulder of the road; you will not miss them.
What to Pack?
The following is a list of items you may want to bring on your trip to Pine Cliff Lodge: clothing for any temperature - hot or cold, waterproof footwear and rain gear; fishing gear and tackle; hunting gear including blaze orange cap and vest or jacket, ammo, and previous hunting license; food and beverage; sunscreen and lip balm; bath towel and wash cloth; toiletries; flashlight; camera and film; sunglasses; paper products such as paper towels and napkins; and bug repellent. No sunflower seeds or peanuts allowed in cabins or boats. Life jackets, nets and bait buckets are supplied; however, no live bait is available at the Lodge.
We do supply the following: toilet paper, hand towels, pots and pans, cooking utensils, plates and silverware, dish detergent, pillows, sheets, and blankets.
There is no need to convert your U.S. dollars to Canadian dollars. We conduct business in U.S. dollars and all other businesses also accept U.S. dollars. The balance of your bill is due upon arrival and we accept cash or Traveler's Checks. Visa or Mastercard accepted with additional 3% charge.
Forget Something?
Garden Market IGA on Hwy 17 in Dryden is a good place to shop if you forgot something or just want to buy groceries and supplies once you are closer to the Lodge. Kaylene makes a trip to town every three or four days and she will gladly pick up items you may need. Remember, just ask and we may have what you need at the Lodge. You can obtain your license at the Lodge upon your arrival. If that big northern gets away with your lure, we keep a supply of lures for your convenience. We will help in any way we can.
